Susan and Ed Auler
Susan Auler is Co-Owner and Director of Communications for Fall Creek Vineyards on Lake Buchanan at Tow in the Texas Hill Country. ;Established with husband, Ed Auler, in 1975, Fall Creek Vineyards is spearheading the promotion of Texas wine across the country. Today, Fall Creek produces a roster of award-winning wines that generate such acclaim to merit a place at the inaugural dinners of the Governor, Speaker of the House and Lieutenant Governor of Texas as well as three Presidents of the United States and other world leaders such as Prince Charles, Vladimir Putin, Vicente Fox and the Premiere of China.
Susan is a driving force for growth and education in the Texas wine industry. A professional interior designer for many years, Susan applies her creative background to her work at the vineyard and with community organizations across the state. Susan founded many of Texas' hallmark wine events, including the Texas Hill Country Wine & Food Festival (begun in 1986 and still one of the most successful festivals in the U.S.), Texas Fall Fest Wine Auction (begun in 2005 as the chief venue for raising much needed funds for Texas Wine & Grape Research) and the WineTexas/Symposium2007 (begun in 2003). She has also held numerous industry-related and community board positions with the Wine & Food Foundation of Texas, University of Texas Fine Arts Advisory Council, Texas Department of Agriculture and Austin Community College Culinary Arts Advisory. In addition, she has garnered awards for her contributions from organizations including the Wines & Vines Magazine (which named her one of the top 50 people in the wine world), Texas Grape Growers Association Qualia Award for Contributions to the Texas Wine Industry, Savor Dallas "Spirit" Award, Colorado River Foundation Service Award, University of Texas Human Ecology 'Alumna of the Year' Award, the Prevent Blindness "People of Vision" Award, and was a state legislative appointee to the Texas Poet Laureate, State Musicians and State Artists Committee.
