About Fall Creek Vineyards

ESTABLISHED 1975
TRUE TEXAS WINE PIONEERS

Ed and Susan Auler, a generational cattle ranching family, took a trip to France to research a French breed of cattle to potentially cross with their Angus herd in the Hill Country. During their trip, the Aulers toured French wineries and discovered a passion for French wine and viticulture. Upon their return home, they realized their future of growing vines in the Texas Hill Country and planted a test plot that grew from a small 1/4 acre to 7 1/2 acres. They knew they were onto something special because the Texas terroir shares similar growing conditions with renowned wine regions like France, Italy, and Spain.

The namesake for our winery is Fall Creek Falls which flows from underground springs along the creek and cascades into Lake Buchanan. By honing in on a sense of place, we continue to emphasize the varietal to site-specific philosophy. We have assembled an impressive family of wines, with a special focus on Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Grenache, and Tempranillo. As some of the first to set out to make Texas wines, our commitment to terroir and the refined flavors of place has only grown. We are proud to have helped bring well-deserved fame to the Lone Star State and are eager to take it to even higher ground.

History

Our history has been inspired and defined by the Texas terroir. Inspired by a trip to the major wine regions of France, Ed & Susan Auler, were among the first to see the potential for growing world-class Texas wine. They founded Fall Creek Vineyards in 1975 with a vineyard planted on the west side of Lake Buchanan. Chad Auler carries on the family legacy leading the winery.

Vineyards

Our estate vineyard was planted in 1975 with some of the first Vitis Vinifera vines in Texas. We proudly source our Texas-grown grapes from our two estate vineyards and from select vineyards. Each vineyard site has a distinct terroir which translates into our thoughtfully crafted wines. We cherish the long-term relationships we have with Texas grape growers.

Winemaking

Led by Sergio Cuadra, Director of Winemaking, we produce benchmark wines that stand shoulder to shoulder with the notable wines of the world. With a philosophy that emphasizes stewardship of the land, our wines come from the right grape varieties selected to grow in the complex soils of each specific site. Our goal is simple; to create wines with the purest expression of their sense of place.

We take our wine seriously, but not ourselves.
